What the pieces are
A Spectis column is moulded millwork. It is not a length of lumber, and it is not a stone pier. Spectis Moulders Inc. makes the shafts, porch posts, caps, bases, and neck rings in high-density polyurethane. Veritas Products LLC is the USA distributor and sells that line at spectis.us, in US dollars. Premiumcolumns.com is a buyer’s guide to those parts. It is not the manufacturer, and it does not stock them.
The usual order is a shaft plus the parts that finish it. Round shafts are listed as smooth or fluted, and as straight or tapered. A rope profile is listed as well. Published round sizes run 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 inches, at heights of 96, 120, and 144 inches. Box columns cover a square post. Those are catalog families. The part you need is a specific SKU inside one family.
Hollow and structural are different parts. A hollow shaft has no structural value. It wraps a post or a pipe that is already carrying the load. The plant can supply the shaft in two halves so the wrap can close around that support. The halves are glued back together. A structural column is the SKU with a 4-1/2 inch steel post in the center. The manufacturer publishes a maximum safe load of 10,000 pounds for that steel core. If the column has to hold the porch, order the structural part. Do not ask a hollow shaft to do it.
CLM100-12-12 is a worked example of a hollow tapered shaft. The manufacturer sheet calls it 12 inches in diameter and 144 inches long, hollow, with a 5 inch inside diameter at the center. On that taper the top is 2 inches smaller than the base dimension. The sheet states that the cap and base are not included, that the part is primed white, and that it is ready to paint. PLP100 is required on bedding and butt joints. Read every other shaft the same way: diameter, length, hollow or structural, and whether the capital and the base are separate lines.
Where columns, bases, and porch posts go
Use the shafts where a vertical is already part of the building, or where you want that vertical to read as classical millwork. On a porch or a porte-cochere, a hollow shaft hides a plain support. Beside an entry, a pair of shafts with caps and bases frames the door without becoming the header. Indoors, the same shaft can mark a passage or the edge of a room, out of the weather. Porch posts are a narrower profile in the same category, including structural urethane posts for rail runs and entries.
Caps, bases, and rings finish the shaft. A Tuscan base is the classical foot under a round shaft. Tuscan caps, attic bases, plain cap or base rings, Corinthian caps, Scamozzi caps, rope caps, and rope bases sit in the same caps-and-bases list. A neck ring is the small ring at the top of the shaft, under the capital. Hole sizes run from 6 inches through 16 inches. Match the hole to the shaft. A 12 inch shaft with a 10 inch base is a mismatch, not a variation.

Material, paint, and adhesive
High-density polyurethane is poured into a mould under pressure, then coated with an exterior-grade primer. The store describes the cured part as water-resistant, and as a material that does not split, rot, or crack the way wood does. It is also described as impervious to insects such as termites. That is why the same part is specified for interior and exterior work. It cuts and fastens with ordinary woodworking tools. It is lighter to handle than a solid wood shaft of the same diameter. It does not replace a beam, a footing, or a post that was never there.
Columns leave the plant double-primed for interior or exterior paint. Do not prime them again. The finish is a high-quality latex, chosen for the exposure. The primer is not the weather coat. The manufacturer also notes gel stain, a faux finish, or a marbleized finish. Where two halves were joined, sand the PLP100 squeeze-out before paint so the joint does not show. The specified adhesive is PL Premium, sold as PLP100, on bedding and butt joints. Nails and screws are the other fasteners, the same ones used on wood millwork.
How to buy them
There are no USA stocking dealers. The parts are made to order and ship from the Canada plant. Most orders ship in about 2 to 3 weeks. Larger or more complex orders can take up to 4 weeks, depending on the plant schedule. A tracking notice goes out when the shipment leaves. On a typical shaft, the store states that the 2 to 3 week window is to a commercial address.
Shipping is calculated in the cart, in US dollars. Smaller parcels generally move by UPS. Extra-long pieces move by freight. The store FAQ states that freight to a residence adds a $220 fee. For a large order, email [email protected] before checkout so delivery can be reviewed. Sales answers 8am to 6pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. A card charge may appear as Veritas Products. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and PayPal are accepted online. A check order is finished by phone. Wire transfer is offered on orders over $1,000.
Confirm the SKU before you pay. Check diameter, height, and whether the shaft is hollow or structural. If the sheet says the cap and base are not included, they need their own lines, and any neck ring is separate too. Spectis products are made to order and are not sitting in a US warehouse. The store does not refund or exchange an order because the profile, the size, or the quantity was wrong, or because the buyer changed their mind. Damage, an incorrect item, or a defect can be replaced. It is not refunded. Start that claim within 24 hours of delivery and send photos. The manufacturer’s warranty on the moulding is 5 years from the date of purchase. That warranty is separate from the no-refund rule on a made-to-order part.

It wraps a post that already does. When the column itself must carry load, order a structural column. That part has a 4-1/2 inch steel post in the center and a published maximum safe load of 10,000 pounds.

Which adhesive is specified?
PLP100, also called PL Premium adhesive, is required on bedding and butt joints. Shafts also fasten with nails or screws, the same way wood millwork does. Split halves are glued with PLP100 so a hollow column can close around an existing post or pipe. Sand excess adhesive before the finish coat.
Are made-to-order columns refundable?
No. The store does not refund or exchange an order because you changed your mind or ordered the wrong profile, size, or quantity. The parts are made to order and are not stocked in a US warehouse. Confirm the SKU before you pay. Damaged, incorrect, or defective merchandise can be replaced only. Start that claim within 24 hours of delivery and email photos. A prepaid label, if one is issued, is only for returning that same item for replacement.
Do I need a Tuscan base or a neck ring?
A Tuscan base is the classical foot under a round shaft, and it is ordered separately. Caps, plain cap or base rings, attic bases, and neck rings are separate parts, matched by hole size. The sheet for a hollow tapered shaft such as CLM100-12-12 states that the cap and base are not included. A neck ring sits at the top of the shaft, under the capital. Match the hole to the shaft diameter.
